The vision for the Healthy Families area of focus is that Mat-Su families and children are able to access social supports, and that there exists a system that helps children be safe, healthy and thriving. The Mat-Su Health Foundation is working to achieve the Strengthening Families™ five protective factors for supporting families. These Protective Factors are: parental resilience; social connections; knowledge of parenting and child development; concrete support in times of need; and social and emotional competence of children. The foundation also serves as the backbone organization for a collaborative called R.O.C.K. Mat-Su (Raising Our Children with Kindness) that aims to increase family resilience and reduce child maltreatment in the Mat-Su.
